Bio
The Road to Nashville... and "That Place"
Armed with little more than her dreams, Lori Lampkin performed a feat that would seem impossible to most. In less than five years, she transformed herself from a NYC accountant into a Nashville recording artist with a record deal. After September 11th, she decided that it was time to change her life and pursue the one thing that she had always really wanted to do...sing. She leveraged the few contacts she had and began to build a musical network, quickly learning how to record the songs she had been writing for years. Utilizing both the NYC and Philadelphia markets, along with social media, she earned herself a record deal with a small boutique record label just outside of Philadelphia. When the label made some sweeping changes to their engineering and production staff, Lori decided to take control of the project and release her debut CD through her very own independent label named "Double L Records".
Lori's CD, "That Place", was born in Music City with the help of some of Nashville's finest session players. The record boasts an enticing mix of country, soul and blues sounds, infused with a style that is unmistakably her own. Having won awards for her songwriting, Lori went on to be chosen as one of the top country artists in NJ during the 2007 Colgate Country Showdown in Atlantic City. When she performed at a female songwriter showcase in NYC, BMI cited Lampkin as an extraordinary talent to watch. Sterling Sound Mastering showcased the title track from her CD on the "Emerging Artists Player" on their global website. Through her own marketing efforts, Lori garnered over 10,000 fans on Myspace and sold CD's in the US, UK, Italy and Australia. Her music has been played on many online radio stations, as well as WSTW in Delaware, WRVV in Pennsylvania, KBLS in Kansas, WRRW in Virginia, WNRC in Massachusetts and WBZC in New Jersey.
Lori has performed hundreds of shows, ranging from intimate acoustic performances to productions complete with a 10-piece band. She has performed at coffee shops, bars, wedding venues, rodeos and festivals. Venues of note include the iconic Tin Angel in Philadelphia and the Knitting Factory in NYC. In addition to singing her own original music, Lori was a member of a local wedding band that was named "Best of Philly" by Philadelphia Magazine in 2013.
